Hawks and doves

Some birds always fight for food and some always back off. What share of fighters does a population settle at, and why?

Birds meet over a crust. Hawks always fight for it, doves always back off, and whichever kind earns more has more chicks. The middle panel shows where the share of hawks settles after eighty generations. Move the prize and the cost of injury and watch that resting point follow them.
