Terms of use

chalk (chalkbrain.com) is a site of lessons, boards, videos and interactive labs, made and run by Garv Nanwani ("I", "me"). By using chalk, you agree to these terms. If anything here is unclear, emailgarvwashere@gmail.com.

What is free and what is paid

The first three lessons of every track are free and need no account. So are the boards, videos and labs that belong to them, and the learning map. A paid plan unlocks everything else: the remaining lessons, the code printed under them, their review cards and drills, and every other board, video, lab and paper discussion.

Plans

• Yearly. Renews every year until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account page or by email. You keep access until the end of the year you paid for.
• Lifetime. One payment gives access for as long as chalk operates. "Lifetime" means the lifetime of chalk, not of your account or of you. If chalk ever shuts down, I will email every lifetime member at least 60 days in advance, and lifetime access ends when chalk does. Apart from the 14-day refund below, a lifetime payment is not refunded when chalk shuts down.

Prices are shown on the pricing page before you pay. Launch and seasonal discounts do not change these terms.

Who sells it to you

Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, which acts as the merchant of record. Dodo Payments is the seller on your receipt. It charges your card, collects and pays any sales tax or VAT, and issues your invoice. Its own terms govern the payment itself. I never see or store your card details.

Refunds

See the refund policy. In summary, you can get a full refund within 14 days of paying, with no reason required.

Your account

• An account is for one person. Do not share your sign-in.
• You are responsible for activity under your account. Keep access to your email and Google account secure.
• You must be at least 16 to create an account.
• You can delete your account at any time. The privacy policy explains what that removes.

How the content is made

The lessons, boards, videos, labs and paper discussions on chalk are made with AI, directed by me: I choose what each track covers, the order it is taught in, and how each idea is explained, and the AI produces the text, drawings, narration and code to that direction. The narration in the videos is a synthetic voice.

Because of that, a lesson can contain a mistake that reads as confidently as everything around it. If you find one, email garvwashere@gmail.comand I will fix it. Your account details and reading progress are never sent to an AI service.

Using the content

The lessons, boards, videos and labs are licensed to you for your own learning. Do not copy paid lessons in bulk, republish them, resell them, or scrape the site. You may quote a few lines with a link back.

The code samples printed under lessons may be used in your own projects, commercial or otherwise, with no attribution required.

Account termination

I may close an account for sharing it, redistributing paid content, attacking the site, or abusing refunds. If I do, I will email you the reason. If I close an account for any other reason, I will refund the unused part of what you paid.

No guarantees

chalk is teaching material, provided as is. I work to keep it correct, but it may contain mistakes. It does not promise a job, an interview result or any other outcome. The site may be unavailable or change from time to time. To the extent the law allows, my total liability to you is limited to what you paid for chalk in the 12 months before the claim.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters to paying members, I will email you before the change takes effect. The date at the top always shows the latest version.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, where I live. Nothing in them removes any right you have under the consumer law of your own country.
