The consumer lease
You start ten consumers against a four-partition topic. How many of them do any work?
A group of consumers shares out the partitions of a topic, and each partition is leased to exactly one of them. The dials set how many of each there are, the tabs change who hands out the work, and a dropdown kills a member mid-shift. Watch the idle consumers appear, and watch what the reshuffle costs.
