The full buffer

A bigger waiting yard means fewer parcels turned away. Why does it make the whole house feel slower?

One upload leaves the house down a narrow road, and in front of the road is a yard where parcels wait their turn. TCP only slows down when a parcel is turned away, so a yard that never turns anyone away fills and stays full. Watch a game's ping wait behind the pile while the upload gets no faster.

On a narrow screen the three rules stack. The dial stays above them, and the sweep table scrolls sideways.
