When the Mind Hurts

The biases board shows a mind’s fast guesses going wrong in predictable directions. This lesson is the same guesses aimed inward: one message left unanswered becomes “everyone is tired of me”, one bad moment in a lift becomes a fear of every lift. Then it asks how doctors name that, and what treatment does about it. It is education, not advice: if any of this is close to home, talk to a doctor or a local crisis line.
Before you start. How Psychology Knows What It Knows gave you the habit this lesson needs most: a famous study is a claim until someone checks it, and an effect size says how much, not just whether. Cognitive Biases showed the mind’s fast system answering before the slow one checks, and What a Feeling Is For showed a feeling as the body’s alarm about what matters.
