Pods, ReplicaSets & Deployments (the ownership chain)

The object ladder you actually write, and why each rung exists.
Before you start. Kubernetes is a system that runs your programs across a fleet of machines: you write down what you want running, and it keeps making that true. Two ideas from earlier lessons matter here. Every running thing carries name tags, called labels, so one thing can find another (The Harbor Master (pods, deployments, services)). And a background process keeps comparing what is running with what you wrote down, and fixes any difference; that is the reconcile loop (Self-Healing & Autoscaling). This lesson answers the question those two assumed you’d already accepted - why the chain that loop watches is three rungs deep instead of one.
